The Hereford Volunteer Fire Company has always been an innovative leader in the Fire Service.  In 1948 the Fire Company purchased a 1948 International-Howe fire engine.  This piece of equipment had an enclosed cab which was unheard of at that time.  Today most equipment is built that way.

1954 was a new milestone in the history of the Baltimore County Fire Service.  That was the year they began using radios.  Hereford was one of the first companies in the County to be equipped with radios.

The 1954 Jeep Brush Unit was one of the first brush units built by the Forestry Department for a volunteer fire company in Baltimore County.
