On Sunday evening December 21st, M60 and E441 were alerted for a 1050 PI at Middletown Road and Rayville Road, as we were responding it was upgraded to a rescue. Upon arrival of M60, they reported 2 people trapped and ask for a second
transport unit. They initially thought the condition of the patients was critical due to mechanism of injury and the damage to the vehicle. Rescue Engine 441 was 2nd to arrive and after pulling a handline, and stabilizing the vehicle, the task of cutting the car away from the occupants was initiated. Crews were working on both sided of the vehicle and were able to open both doors at almost the same time. As soon as the occupants saw that they were free, they crawled out of the car and the rescue was cancelled. Both patients were transported but their conditions were upgraded prior to leaving the scene. We were assisted on
the call by A435, T58, S533, BC1, and EMS7.
