One of the best parts of having a new piece of apparatus is showing it off to other fire companies and firefighters. The largest improvement from the 2006 Pierce Arrow XT to the 2022 Seagrave Marauder is the 1,000 gal water tank paired with a low hose bed. Although low hose beds are common with 500 gal pumpers, it has historically been difficult for design engineers to have both options on one fire engine.
Earlier this week, Seagrave Fire Apparatus and the Community Volunteer Fire Company Inc. of District No. 12 (Fairplay, MD) invited the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company to show off the design and features of Engine 441. The 186 mile (roundtrip) journey also allowed us to take a few photos near the historic Antietam National Battlefield.
